This tutorial will guide you through updating the price for a customer who pays via a subscription price band in Stripe, specifically when managing subscriptions through Book That In.

These steps are helpful when you need to increase or change the regular amount a customer pays.

Please note: If you are dealing with a standard subscription (not a price band), you do not need to follow these steps. See instructions under 'Can I transfer a customer from one subscription to another?' here.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log in to Stripe

  • Visit stripe.com and sign in to your Stripe account.

2. Find the Customer

  • Use the customer’s email address as the unique identifier.

  • In the search bar at the top, enter the customer’s email and click Show all results.

  • Click on the customer profile associated with the relevant subscription.

  • Alternatively:

    • Go to your subscriptions list in Stripe.

    • Select the individual whose subscription price you need to update.

3. Update the Subscription Price

  • On the right-hand side, click Actions.

  • Select Update subscription from the drop-down menu.

4. Edit the Pricing

  • In the update screen, find the Pricing section on the left.

  • Click Edit next to the current price

  • Enter the new price you want to charge

  • Click Confirm to save your changes.

  • Review the details on the right to confirm the next invoice will show the new amount and invoice date.

5. (Optional) Adjust Billing Timing

  • If you wish to charge the new price immediately, tick the Reset billing date option.

    • This will bill the customer the new amount straight away.

  • If you want to pro rata the charge (charge them the difference immediately), select the Pro rata option.

    • This will calculate and bill the difference between what they’ve already paid and the new price, effective straight away.

6. Confirm the Change

  • Refresh the customer’s subscription page.

  • The updated amount should now show on the next invoice and its date.

7. Repeat as Needed

  • If you have multiple subscribers on price band subscriptions, repeat these steps for each subscriber individually.
