All good things come to an end so, at some point, you will have to cancel a customer's subscription.
When cancelling subscriptions, you can choose to cancel with immediate effect, or you can set a future cancellation date for the subscriber in question.
Setting a future cancellation date can be handy in a couple of scenarios, for example:
A customer indicates that they would like to cancel the subscription, however some of their payments are still due to be made before the cancellation date.
Do you want to take a finite number of payments from your customers for any given subscription.
This video shows you how to cancel and set a future cancellation date on your subscriptions:
Step 1: Open the Subscriber List
Go to Business → Subscriptions.
Select the subscription you want.
Click View Subscribers to see everyone signed up.
Step 2: Choose the Subscriber
Each row shows one subscriber.
If you have a minimum subscription period set, you’ll see a padlock icon.
Customers cannot cancel themselves during this locked period.
But as the business owner, you can still cancel on their behalf.
Step 3: Start the Cancellation
Find the subscriber you want to cancel.
Click the padlock icon (or cancel icon) to unlock and begin cancellation.
You’ll see two options:
Cancel immediately (ends the subscription now).
Cancel at a future date.
Step 4: Set the Future Date
Select Yes to cancel at a future date.
Pick the cancellation date (for example, the day after their final payment is due).
Example: If payments are taken on the 17th each month, set the cancellation for the 18th.
Confirm the cancellation.
BookThatIn will sync with Stripe, and you’ll see a status marker showing the scheduled cancellation date.
Step 5: What Happens Next
Payments will continue until the chosen cancellation date.
On that date, the system will automatically stop the subscription.
No further payments will be taken.
Benefits of Future Cancellation
✔ Saves you from manual reminders.
✔ Keeps payments running until the correct point.
✔ Gives customers clarity on when their subscription will end.
Conclusion
Setting a future cancellation date is quick, easy, and ensures you never miss important subscription deadlines.
