You may find you need to pause a subscription for a period of time. Maybe a customer needs to take a break, or perhaps you are going to stop running your classes or events over the holiday season.
Fortunately, if you ever need to pause a subscription, it's really easy to do in Book That In.
Here's how:
Go to your Booking Types —> Subscriptions.
Click on the subscription, then click on the ‘View Subscriptions’ tab
Click ‘Pause All’ at the top to pause all your subscribers, or click the pause icon to pause individual subscribers
On the pop up, select the closest reason to explain why you are pausing
If you know when you want the subscriptions to re-start, enter the date, then save.
Note: If you enter a re-start date, the subscriptions will become active again on the date you set. This does not mean that cards will necessarily be charged on that date - rather, each individual subscriber will be charged on the next date in their original subscription schedule that comes after your re-start date.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Access Subscriptions
Log in to your BookThatIn account.
From the top menu, go to Business → My Booking Types.
Select Subscriptions.
2. View Subscribers
From the list on the left-hand side, select the subscription you want to pause.
On the right-hand side, click View Subscribers.
A list of all subscribers for that subscription will appear.
3. Pause Subscriptions
You have two options:
Pause All Subscribers
Click the Pause All button at the top.
Pause an Individual Subscriber
Click the Pause icon next to the subscriber’s row.
4. Set Pause Details
A pop-up window will appear.
Select the reason for pausing the subscription.
Choose whether you want to set a restart date:
No: The subscription will be paused indefinitely until you manually restart it.
Yes: Select a date and time for the system to automatically restart the subscription.
Tip: Set the time to midnight. This ensures payments resume smoothly on the subscriber’s billing cycle.
Important Note: Restarting does not immediately charge the customer. Their card will only be charged on their next scheduled billing date after the subscription has resumed.
Click Confirm and Pause.
5. Confirm the Pause
The system will process each subscription and pause them.
Once complete:
The Pause All button will change to Resume All.
The Pause icons next to individual subscribers will change to Play icons.
6. Resume Subscriptions
To restart all subscriptions, click Resume All.
To restart an individual subscriber before the set restart date, click the Play icon next to their row.
Conclusion
Pausing subscriptions in BookThatIn is flexible and allows you to manage customer payments smoothly. You can pause all or individual subscribers, set automatic restart dates, or manually resume when you’re ready.
