If you run classes or events for children, your customers (the parents) may wish to book more than one child onto your sessions.

You can do this by adding a Sibling Extra to yourIntroduction to Price Bands and Extras - Setting different ticket prices and options.

The same process applies if you wish to allow the customer to allow another person to their booking who will take up another place against the capacity for the event/class.

The video below walks you through how to create the option to add a sibling to a booking.

Note: If you don't want the extra person to take up a place against the capacity for the class/event, you should add the Extra as a product.

How to sell products and add upsell options to your bookings using Price Bands and Extras

Step 1: Go to Price Bands

  1. Log in to BookThatIn.

  2. Navigate to Business > Group Overview.

  3. Find your class (e.g. Music Class).

  4. Click Options > Price Bands.

Here, you’ll see your existing booking options (e.g. Full Block, Single Session, Two Classes).

Step 2: Add a Sibling Extra to a Full Block

  1. Next to your Full Block price band, click Add Extras > Create New Extra.

  2. Fill in the details:

    • Name: e.g. Sibling Full Block.

    • Description: e.g. Add siblings to your booking.

    • Type: Select Auto Calculate, since the full block price is auto-calculated.

    • Attendees: 1 (the sibling counts as one participant).

    • Cost per Session: e.g. £5 (a 50% discount from £10).

  3. Click Link to attach it.

Now, when customers select a full block, they’ll see the option to add a sibling at £5 per session. The system automatically calculates the total based on the number of sessions left.

Step 3: Add a Sibling Extra to Single or Multi-Session Options

For single sessions and other pick-and-choose bookings (e.g. two or three sessions):

  1. Click Add Extras > Create New Extra.

  2. Select Pick and Choose Dates as the type (to match the parent price band).

  3. Enter details such as:

    • Name: e.g. Sibling Single Class.

    • Attendees: 1.

    • Cost per Session: e.g. £5.

  4. Save and link the extra.

Linking to Multiple Options

  • Instead of creating a new extra each time, you can link the same sibling extra to other price bands (e.g. Two Classes or Three Classes).

  • The system automatically multiplies the sibling cost by the number of sessions.

    • Example: 2 sessions at £5 each = £10 total for the sibling.

    • 3 sessions at £5 each = £15 total.

Step 4: Test Your Booking Page

  1. Refresh your booking page.

  2. Select a price band (e.g. Two Classes).

  3. You should now see the option to add a sibling at the discounted rate.

  4. The total adjusts automatically, and the system collects details for both children.

Optional: Different Discounts for Different Options

If you want different sibling prices for different booking types (e.g. £5 for full block, £7 for single sessions), create separate sibling extras with their own costs and link them individually.

Conclusion

Adding sibling extras makes it easy for families to book multiple children while giving you flexibility to apply discounts. By linking the extra to different booking options, BookThatIn automatically adjusts the cost per session and collects details for every child.
